Why I Write

Writers are always asked the same question, "Why do you write?" The answer, for me at least, is simple. I write because I like the idea of creating a story. I like getting lost in the words. I write because I like to string words together, to search for the perfect one; to re-arrange sentences to make them better, clearer, more concise. I love that feeling of utter euphoria. I write because I think I may, perhaps, probably have something worthwhile or inspiring to say. I write because it's satisfying, gratifying, and stimulating. I like being by myself and getting lost. It's my time to be purely me. It's like giving myself a gift. That is why I write.

Thank goodness you write, it's a bigger gift for the rest of us!
