A Metaphor For My Writing Process

For me, writing an article or story is akin to watching The Wizard of Oz. It (meaning my writing), often starts out black and white and not necessarily clear in the sense that phrase implies. Sometimes black and white means dull and dreary, a sort of drudgery to put words on paper, meaningless and out-of-sync. But then, somehow, some way my mind enters the Land of Oz and the scene changes dramatically. Everything becomes alive and in full color in my minds eye and I can't get it down on paper quick enough. I simply follow the yellow brick road and I am free to write flowery yet succinct dialogue, rich and detailed scenes, and create interesting and unusual characters. These components help to move the story forward resulting in an article or story that has depth and meaning. It's a joy, a triumph, and a walk worth taking.

Beautifully said. They majority of us rely on writers like you to enter another realm and fly away with what your brilliant minds create for us.
